Celebrate National Wine and Cheese Day
Adam Roytman, owner and chef of Bar Sugo says riesling is having a moment this season. “There are some wonderful wines being produced in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York,” says Roytman. “One winemaker I really enjoy is Hermann Wiemer. I pair their Magdalena Vineyard riesling with a wonderful blue cheese from Arethusa farm in Litchfield.” Another option? “Lambrusco is a bubbly red from Emilia-Romagna and can range from very sweet to quite dry. I like to pair Lambrusco with the king of all cheeses, parmigiano reggiano.”
