An annual event that showcases world-class international show jumping competition, the 2018 American Gold Cup, celebrated its seventh year at the breathtaking Old Salem Farm venue located in North Salem, New York. This yearโs show marked the eventโs fourth year as part of the prestigious Longines FEI Jumping World Cup North American League and, in typical fashion, hosted an international lineup of renowned equestrian athletes and their incredible horses.
Fresh off a team gold medal finish at the FEI World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina, three of the four members of the NetJets U.S. Show Jumping Team (McLain Ward, Adrienne Sternlicht and Devin Ryan) showcased their talents at the American Gold Cup, where Ward captured three wins including the $80,000 American Gold Cup Qualifier CSI4*-W on Friday and the $70,000 Fidelity Investments Classic CSI4* on Saturday.
The family friendly event also offered a multitude of entertainment and activities as well as luxury shopping on Boutique Row for the duration of the week. With more than 5,500 fans in attendance, the United Statesโ Molly Ashe Cawley ultimately added her name to the list of victors on the coveted American Gold Cup trophy after she and Louisburg Farmโs DโArnita captured the $204,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup New York CSI4*-W title in front of a packed crowd on Sunday to close out the showโs highlight event.
โIt means a lot to win a class of this magnitude,โ said Cawley. โThis is [DโArnita]โs biggest outing so far to date and I was thrilled with her. She really rose to the occasion. Every time she wins, it means a lot to us because sheโs been a fighter and a class act.โ
