Swim Across America’s Shop & Share Event Raises Funds for Cancer Research

Swim Across American’s Shop & Share Boutique was held at the Innis Arden Golf Club in Old Greenwich, CT. This special shopping event benefited Swim Across America Greenwich-Stamford and helped raise funds for cancer gene therapy research with the swim’s beneficiary, the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT).

This year’s Swim Across America Greenwich-Stamford slogan is, “More Than A Swim, We Are A Cause.”

“I’ve known about Swim Across America Greenwich-Stamford for quite a while,” noted swim committee member Nancy Carr, who was responsible for putting together the shopping and special events with local retailers, restaurants and organizations. “I always thought of the event as just a ‘swim’ and never thought of volunteering as I am not a strong swimmer. But two years ago, I heard there was a need for land volunteers and learned that while everyone involved is united in their commitment to fight cancer, you don’t have to swim to make an impact.”

Michele Graham and Lorrie Lorenz, co-chairs of the Swim Across America Greenwich-Stamford event noted, “This year, we decided to expand our efforts and offer additional opportunities for the community to support Swim Across America and raise funds for cancer research, including the Shop & Share Boutique event.”
