Elm’s House Rosé

The popular pink-hued wine is not just for summer at Elm, the New Canaan, CT, restaurant that recently debuted their first in-house blend. “Some of my favorite days at Elm are in the early fall when our sidewalk patio is filled with a mix of familiar faces and city-dwellers; fresh- shucked oysters, grilled fish, etc., are being delivered from the kitchen and bottles of wine being chilled at almost every table,” says chef Luke Venner. “Having a private label bottle to offer at Elm has been an idea of mine for a long time, so when I decided to finally make it a reality, rosé was a no-brainer. It felt like an obvious addition to the welcoming scene at Elm.”

Produced at Chateau Paradis in France, the wine is a blend of Syrah, Mouvedre, and Vermentino and it’s a good match for fall dishes. “Autumn marks the beginning of shellfish season, and it pairs really well with oysters, scallops, and especially sea urchin, which is abundant in the waters of the Côte d’Azur,” says Venner. “It also stands up well to heartier preparations such as grilled chicken and smoked pork ribs.”
