One of the most famous and prestigious of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments, Wimbledon is in full swing right now—celebrating it’s 130th year at the All England Club. And while all eyes are focused on the players as we head towards the final singles matches on July 10th, there’s so much more to check out.
Wimbledon is a stage for high fashion on (and off) the court, and chic parties are a key part of the tournament reputation. Here’s a peek at how Polo Ralph Lauren is dressing things up, the newest cocktail of the tournament and how superstar Venus Williams is making heads turn on the court.
Polo Ralph Lauren
You may have noticed that it’s not just the players who look great on the grass. For the 11th year in a row, Polo Ralph Lauren is the Official Outfitter of the Championships, designing all the uniforms for Wimbledon on-court officials including chair umpires, line umpires and ball persons.
The Ball Boy and Girl uniforms feature a navy skort for the girls and a classic navy tennis short for the boys. And this year for the first time, the uniforms are in the traditional Wimbledon colors of navy, green and purple.
For the umpires, women are sporting a pinstriped navy blazer that they can pair with a wide-leg trouser or a feminine bias-cut skirt with mother-of-pearl buttons. The men are wearing a sport coat (with crisp white pants) that features a navy pinstripe with three buttons, a notch collar and patch pockets.
If you want some Wimbledon style for yourself, the Polo Ralph Lauren Wimbledon collection is available at select Ralph Lauren stores, online at ralphlauren.com and available during the tournament at wimbledon.com/shop.
The Polo Bar’s “All England Cup”
The Pimms Cup may be a staple cocktail of the Wimbledon tournament, but the Polo Bar in NYC has just created an updated version called the “All England Cup.” Here’s the recipe so you can make at home and sip while you watch the final matches!
Muddle 1 piece of cucumber
1 strawberry strawberry
2 pieces of kumquat
2 sprigs of mint
2 ounces Pimms
1 ounce Boodles gin
¾ ounces lemon juice
½ ounce ginger syrup
Take all of the fruit and herb components and muddle all together. Add liquids and then add ice. Shake and pour into Pilsner Glass. Top with splash of club soda.
EleVen by Venus Williams
Not only is Venus Williams a force to be reckoned with on the court, but it’s also tough to beat her style, too. Upping the ante on athleisure, Williams popular line, EleVen by Venus, has served up some of the hottest, chicest and most functional looks for any sport of your choosing—tennis, yoga, jogging and more. And of course Williams has been modeling the latest from her Club Collection during Wimbledon.
