For more than 30 years, principals Richard Koch and Brian MacDonald have overseen the custom homes, additions and renovations undertaken by Davenport. Davenport Property Management maintains, remodels and services Davenport homes as well as other residential homes with a focus on design, budgeting and decision-making to ensure each project meets clients’ expectations. Koch and MacDonald talked to us about their business.
What are you most proud of?
Our greatest professional achievement is growing and maintaining Davenport Contracting Inc. through all of the ups and downs of the economy, while maintaining our original core values and standards.
Who is your ideal client?
Each client and project is a brand new, unique experience. We enjoy the challenges that clients and their projects bring to us and their appreciation of our personal participation with them in their project.
What are some new trends in building?
The use of more Energy Efficient Designs and Systems—open and closed cell insulation systems, electrical co-generation, geo-thermal heating and cooling and whole house electronic integration controls.
What is the best thing about your job?
Doing the “right thing” while enabling our clients to build their dreams!
How does Davenport give back to the community?
In 2012, Davenport received a HOBI Award for Community Service for work on the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Pineapple Classic 5K and has continued its support for the race. The firm also builds and maintains obstacles for the annual fundraiser at the Greenwich Polo Club. In 2013 HOBI’s were won for Best Residential Remodel Over $5 Million and Best New Accessory Building for a Writing Room. 2014 HOBI AWARDS were received for Best Custom Home 12,000-14,000 sf; Best Entry Foyer; Best Kitchen Over $200,000.; Best Bath Over $100,000.; Best Home Office and Best Exterior Home Feature. Davenport continues its support for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Pineapple Classic 5K Race.
