Waterfront Living in Dolphin Cove, CT

Dolphin Cove

On a sunny summer day in Dolphin Cove, it’s not uncommon to see kids biking on the cul-de-sac while parents gather on their lawns talking to their neighbors. On the water, paddleboards, kayaks and boats dot the lagoon and the swimming pool is filled with everyone from children to grandparents. Welcome to Stamford’s private coastal neighborhood: Dolphin Cove.

Dolphin Cove marina
The yacht club has five sets of docks with deepwater slips.

“It has it all—waterfront living with your boat only steps away from your house and just minutes from schools, shopping, dining and the Metro-North railroad station,” says Russell Pruner, Realtor at Houlihan Lawrence. “Within this community is your own yacht club with beach, tennis, pools, large common pavilion and breathtaking views of Long Island Sound.”

And while there are several waterfront communities in Westchester and Fairfield counties, Dolphin Cove stands out. “The deepwater harbor provides access to boating at high or low tide. This is a unique feature because most waterfront homeowners in the Northeast are restricted by the tides, finding their boats sitting in mud or not being able to reach their mooring or slips upon return,” says Emile P. de Neree, Realtor at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. “It is every boater’s dream to have their power- or sailboat at their home, allowing for easy and quick access and sailing when there is wind. The lagoon provides excellent protection from wind and waves and is often referred to as the best hurricane hole in the area.”

Dolphin Cove Courts
There are two pools, tennis courts and a private beach at Dolphin Cove.

Dolphin Cove was developed in the early 1970s and currently includes 104 homes (96 on the water), and a three-acre club area with two swimming pools, one for little kids and a full-size one with swim lanes. There’s also a 450-foot beach, tennis courts and the Dolphin Cove Yacht Club, which manages five sets of docks with deepwater slips. A pool cabana and pavilion can be rented for private parties for a nominal fee.

The community is very social, with beach and dock parties held regularly in the summer and monthly TGIFs in the winter months. The social committee organizes yoga, plays and speakers.

“The community is large enough to afford a stunningly beautiful and private club area, yet small enough to be intimate and friendly, where neighbors go out of their way to support and look out for each other,” says de Neree. “The lifestyle of Dolphin Cove feels like resort or vacation living. Most people, myself included, sometimes have to pinch ourselves to realize we actually live here.”
