Lisa & Stephen Maronian of Sweet Lisa’s Exquisite Cakes in Greenwich are the chef/owners of this truly unique and elite custom-designed couture sweet shop.This dream of Lisa’s started in 1993 in the basement of a building on Greenwich Avenue and quickly outgrew the space.  The business is now operated from a converted house in the Cos Cob section of town.  There, along with their amazingly talented staff led by Senior Confectionery Sugar Artist Jessi Vitti, is where all the brainstorming, thoughts, ideas and edibles masterpieces are created. Confectionery Sugar Artist Krissy Schule is also a vital part of the team.

All of the sweet creations are produced by hand and with careful attention to each detail.  Starting with a great tasting cake and finishing with beautiful decor, each cake is a piece of edible art.

Stephen and Lisa, both professional chefs and graduates of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde Park, NY.  Both graduating with honors.Lisa also holds a degree in pastry arts from The International Pastry Arts Center in New York.  After graduation, Lisa spent time at The Ritz Carlton Hotel, L’Auberge de France, Beyond Bread and Incredible Edibles, before opening Sweet Lisa’s.  Lisa also finds time to teach a baking class to up and coming culinarian’s at Norwalk Community College.

Stephen honed his skills at the PGA Sheraton in Palm Beach Gardens , Le Relais au Mougin of Palm Beach, and the Rancho Bernardo Inn in Southern California, before moving back to the northeast to take a position as an Executive Chef at the Milbrook Club in Greenwich.  He is classically trained and is currently Executive Chef for Flik Hospitality, a Compass Group company. Steve was recently inducted into the prestigious Academie Culinaire de France. 

Jessi Vitti holds a degree from Connecticut Culinary Institute and is a Master Sugar Artist in sculpting 3D figures and cakes.  She puts her artistry and enthusiasm into everything she makes.  She has been with Sweet Lisa’s for almost 5 years now, with 9 years total experience in cake decorating and baking. Jessi’s past experience is at J Cakes and Cheri’s bakery in her hometown of Branford CT.

Krissy Schule holds an associates degree in baking and pastry arts from Johnson & Wales University. She is a Master sugar flower artist, and creates the most amazing edible flowers of all kinds. Krissy has been with Sweet Lisa’s for almost 3 years.  Krissy had worked at DiMare’s pastry shop.

Sweet Lisa’s team has garnered local and national acclaim over the years and has won many awards.  They have appeared on the Food Network, The Today Show and in national magazines such as Gourmet, Chocolatier and House Beautiful.
Most recently they were featured on a segment of The Rachael Ray Show.

Sweet Lisa’s is a Greenwich, CT original, pioneers in their field.  But, most important are their loyal and wonderful customers who come back time and again.
