Stepping Stones Museum for Children was transformed into a New England farmhouse for the first annual Friendsgiving held on November 12 at the museum. Rustic farmers’ tables and a family-style feast created by chef Justin Walker of Earth at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, ME, set the tone for the evening. Guests strolled the museum and let loose their inner child in the exhibits as they sipped signature cocktails (such as cranberry margaritas), then sat down to a farm-grown dinner sourced from Walker’s seventh-generation family farm. The evening, which raised more than $71,000, launched a new era of the museum’s Healthy Children, Healthy Communities initiatives. The museum is taking a proactive role in addressing concerns about children’s physical, mental and emotional health and teaching the next generation the importance of being stewards of the environment.
