Top 2017 Destination: British Columbia, Canada

“It’s no secret that Whistler is a top travel destination, but come 2017 its popularity is expected to grow even further,” says Jordan Rhodes, founder of Glimpse Guides. “With the Canadian dollar currently weak compared to the U.S. counterpart, not only is Canada a sought-after vacation choice for families, it is also an inexpensive alternative to mountain resorts in the western United States.” Add to this the fact that the country is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, and you’ll see why it’s a great time to visit.

While You’re There: Whistler has plenty of outdoor activities, for both adults and kids. In the winter, there’s skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating and bungee jumping; while the summer offers zip-lining, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding and golf. “The charming village of Whistler also features award-winning restaurants and a plethora of unique shopping boutiques,” says Rhodes. You can even dine slopeside for a mountaintop breakfast or join in an après ski winetasting. As part of the 150th anniversary, the town has special concerts, performances and festivities planned throughout the year.

Where to Stay: Families take top priority at the Four Seasons Whistler, which features luxe lodge-style guest rooms, a spa and a topnotch steakhouse. “The hotel can arrange exclusive adventures, such as scavenger hunts, treetop tours, 4×4 vehicle excursions, and guided hikes through the mountains,” says Rhodes.

Rhodes never leaves home without: Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. “It not only brightens my face after a long flight, but also provides the perfect primer for makeup,” she says.
