Summer Getaways: Play 18 Holes in the Green Mountains in Stowe, Vermont

After a round of golf, head back to Topnotch for drinks around the fire pit.

Stowe is a famous winter destination for ski enthusiasts, but in the summer it’s all about golf. Guests at Topnotch Resort, have full golf privileges at the exclusive Country Club of Vermont, with panoramic views of the Green Mountains from every hole. Visitors can also swing their clubs at the historic Stowe Country Club, home of the Vermont Golf Academy and a turn-of-the-century dairy farm, or play a round at the Stowe Mountain Golf Club, which meanders along the slopes of Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak.

While You’re in Town: Head to AJ Ski and Sports on Mountain Road to pick up a bike rental, and start the day with a trip along the Stowe Rec Path, which takes riders past farms, fields and some of Vermont’s famed covered bridges. To get a stunning, bird’s eye view of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks, take the Stowe Mountain Auto Toll Road, which winds its way up to the top of Mount Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont.
