Boombox was born when Christina Geist set out to collect birthday messages for her best friend’s 40th birthday and present them to her in a beautiful jewelry box. The process of connecting with everyone in her friend’s life and gathering their sentiments was nearly as emotional for Geist as it was for the birthday girl. Then Geist’s dad turned 70, and more friends turned 40, so she kept making these pretty but powerful boxes, while simultaneously building a website to simplify this process for others. The culmination of these events resulted in Boombox. The site offers 10 bone inlay and lacquer boxes to celebrate various events including milestone birthdays, baby showers and teacher appreciation. Gift givers and their friends can upload photos and messages from anywhere, so it’s a nice way to to get everyone involved. A Boombox typically takes four weeks from
start to finish, although timing can be expedited in a pinch.
