Greenwich Real Estate Agent Yashmin Lloyds Goes to the Mat for Each Client

When Yashmin Lloyds decided to throw her hat in the real estate market, she planned on just dabbling. Now, 12 years later, she has a successful career as one of the top selling agents in Greenwich, CT, and has developed many long-term relationships with her clients who are continually expanding her business with word-of-mouth referrals. That speaks volumes about how Lloyds does business. “I’m not just out to make a sale,” she tells Serendipity. “I want to help my clients find the right home, and create a successful, enjoyable transaction.”

Building Success

Lloyds, who grew up in Boston, MA, and attended college in Montreal, came to real estate from a background in sales and marketing for Rosewood Hotels. After she had her first child, she wanted to shift gears. Raising children and building a real estate career was far from easy. “They were so young and it was tough. My husband was really supportive,” she recalls. But she is glad she pursued it when she did. Now, as her boys reach college- and high school-age she has built a successful career in a competitive market. “Greenwich is a town with some of the most successful agents in the country—bright, savvy, business-minded agents,” she says. “Having confidence and expertise comes through in the negotiation process. I always go to the mat for my clients but always in a way that is collaborative.”

Navigating the Market

While the real estate industry has changed a bit—particularly since the pandemic in 2020—and technology, the internet and virtual agents have become a growing part of the business, Lloyds says she believes real estate has always been and should remain a high touch experience with an agent being your biggest tool for success. Her best advice to clients right now: be prepared, know what the market looks like—whether they are buying or selling—and visit Greenwich as many times as you can if you are moving in from out of the area. She understands the buying and selling process is a marathon, not a sprint. It sometimes takes time to do your homework and get things in order and she says she is willing to go the distance. “I stay in touch with my clients for years,” says Lloyds of her client relationships before and after a sale. “I want people to feel I have their best interests at heart.”

Going the Extra Mile

Having personal and professional knowledge of the Greenwich market has helped her not only find her clients a house but find them the right house and enabled her to help them navigate a move to Greenwich on multiple levels. “Buying or selling a home is not just a significant business transaction, it can be a highly emotional and sometimes stressful experience,” says Lloyds. “Every buyer wants to make sure they are getting the best price possible and making a smart purchase. For many sellers, their home represents so much more than just a property. It is often a reflection of their identity and they have an emotional connection to their experience in that space. Whether you are buying or selling, you want an agent who is going to offer you expert business advice and support you as you navigate what, for many, is an extremely significant transaction in their lives.”

For Lloyds that means not only spending lots of time researching each of the diverse and unique Greenwich neighborhoods, but also helping them understand the school system, find a nanny, or know where to go for the best martini in town. Many of her clients in recent years have been families moving out of New York City or clients moving from across the country or across the world. “I genuinely enjoy helping people get settled and figure out how to live in the suburbs,” says Lloyds.
