Bruce Museum Hosts Oktoberfest Celebration

The Bruce Museum in Greenwich hosted its first-ever Oktoberfest celebration. More than 150 Museum members and supporters gathered under festive lights on the grounds outside the museum entrance to enjoy an evening of authentic German beers from Paulaner USA and lively Oktoberfest music from the Austrian Boys Band.

Inside the Museum’s Bantle Lecture gallery was a savory spread of classic German fare from the Harlan Restaurant Group’s new Harlan Haus beer and wurst hall in downtown Bridgeport.

“We were excited to host our first Oktoberfest and to welcome new and familiar friends to the Bruce Museum,” says Brooke Amico, Special Events Manager. “Paulaner is the real deal – they have been crafting beer in Bavaria since the 1600s and are one of the largest brewers at the Oktoberfest in Munich. And it tastes amazing! The Austrian Boys Band really made the event come alive and added real ‘Oompah’ to our celebration! What a wonderful way to kick off the Fall season. We can’t wait for next year’s event!”

Oktoberfest guests also had the opportunity to tour four exhibitions currently on view in the Museum galleries, including the recently opened show, ReTooled: Highlights from the Hechinger Collection. Featuring more than 40 richly imaginative, quirky, and thought-provoking paintings, sculptures, photographs, and sketches, ReTooled celebrates the prevalence of tools in our lives with art that magically transforms utilitarian objects into fanciful works that speak of beauty, insight, and wit. It will be on view through December 30, 2018.

Proceeds from the Oktoberfest celebration support the Bruce Museum and its educational programs.
