Former Refugee Zion Uness Spoke at JCC Greenwich’s Annual Women’s Education Symposium

Former refugee Zion Uness shared his personal story of emigration as the featured speaker at JCC Greenwich’s annual Women’s Education Symposium, held on March 2 at a private Greenwich home. Uness’s talk, “Migration, Minorities and Human Potential: The Journey From Ethiopia to International Spokesman,” focused on his own life story; in 1984, Uness traveled from Ethiopia to Sudan on foot and was then airlifted to Israel as part of Operation Moses, the secret evacuation of Ethiopian Jews. Guests at the event also had the opportunity to attend hour-long break-out sessions with prominent Jewish authors, which included book-signings.
