New Canaan Library Books & Beats

The Books and Beats event Committee

New Canaan Library kicked off summer in high style with its popular Books & Beats Fundraising Event, held under the stars on Saturday, June 3rd on the Library grounds. At the hands of committee co-chairs Kate Benett, Maya Frey, Sue Mackey and Sapna Shah, the grounds were magically transformed into a white-hot, Miami dance party, complete with white tents, glamorous cabana lounges, great dance music and delicious food and drink. Guests enjoyed gourmet, Latin-inspired fare from On the Marc Events, a tequila tasting bar courtesy of Don Julio, and Heineken beer, provided by creative agency, Smartfish Group. Dancing never slowed down, thanks to the curated music of DJ Nico, from James Daniel Entertainment.

Books & Beats is one of the Library’s largest annual fundraising events, and allows the Library to continue its mission of inspiring lifelong learning through innovation and discovery. This mission is supported by providing members with first class programming, collections, technology classes, author talks and events, all of which rely on funding. Says Ellen Sullivan Crovatto, Director of Development: “The Library is truly the center of our community and we could not put on this fabulously fun event without the help of our corporate sponsors and committee of volunteers.”
