The sun was shining for New Canaan Library’s first Spring Edition Author Talk and Lunch featuring Min Jin Lee, bestselling author of Pachinko. The event, which honored Lydee Hummel and Anda Hutchins was held at the Country Club of Darien and co-chaired by Kate Burt, Diana Ferguson and Holly Parmelee. Benefactors had an opportunity to meet with Min Jin Lee at a private reception prior to the main event. Guests were treated to an Asian-inspired menu. The event décor included spring flowers, complete with cherry blossoms, by Hedgerow Florist, traditional Hanbok dresses from Korea and a vintage pachinko machine. It was a wonderful afternoon spent with friends in a beautiful setting. The money raised from Spring Edition allows the library to continue its mission of inspiring lifelong learning through innovation and discovery.
The mission is supported by providing members with first class programming, collections, technology classes, author talks and events—all of which rely in part on private donor funding. The library was pleased to welcome Bankwell and Fatou Niang of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty as corporate sponsors. “We are so grateful to Bankwell and Fatou Niang for taking a chance on the library and this new event. It was a great success and we look forward to Spring Edition becoming an annual event,” said New Canaan Library’s Director of Development Ellen Sullivan Crovatto.
