Pequot Library Raises Funds Through Massive Book Sale

Pequot Library’s 57th Book Sale, which took place July 21 to 25, 2017, is an annual favorite among area book lovers—for good reason. There were over 140,000 books and media, with over 60 categories, plus rare and unique specials. “This is the best book sale in New England. We attract over 8,000 people annually. Our numbers were fantastic and we appreciate all of the support from the community,” said Southport resident Madge Canning, who volunteered at the event. Bridgeport-based Herbaceous Catering catered the event and tents were provided by Stamford Tent. The event drew collectors, dealers, and volunteers from all over the country.

For over 125 years, Pequot Library has been a cultural beacon for Fairfield, Southport Village, and beyond, providing professional, encouraging library services and vibrant and diverse programming.
