The first annual Serendipity Fun Run presented by Aquafina took place on Mother’s Day and, fittingly, saw local families and friends running and walking together, all to benefit the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation Foundation. The morning started with t-shirt pick up, an organized pre-race stretch with Chelsea Piers Connecticut and complimentary gourmet coffees and teas from Caffe Bon’s food truck. Then runners and walkers took off on the flat and fast 5K course through Old Greenwich, which took them around the bucolic Binney Park.
As participants crossed the finish line they were cheered on and given medals, and then refueled on more food truck eats, including thin crust pizza by Dough Girls and fresh egg and cheese sandwiches from Wendy’s Weenies. Kids also loved getting their faces painted before heading home to celebrate Mom.
Claudio Rivers won the men’s category and Tracey Doucette finished first in women’s,
while Ian Cipollaro was the fastest in the boys (16 and under) category and Mari Noble
took the girls’ group top prize. Raffle winner Haley Fisher snagged two tickets to the 2018 Greenwich Wine & Food Festival.
