United Way of Western Connecticut’s Annual Heart of Gold Dinner Raised Money, Honored Volunteers

United Way of Western Connecticut gave this year’s Heart of Gold Award to Tracie Wilson, senior vice president of programming and development at NBCUniversal in Stamford, CT, for her success in building employee volunteerism at her company. Wilson received the honor at United Way’s annual fundraising dinner, held on May 18 at the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa. Two hundred and fifty guests attended the evening in support of United Way, a community nonprofit that focuses on programs that promote education, financial stability and good health. The event featured a silent auction, with television personality Jerry Springer as the emcee, and a Text to Give initiative, which raised nearly $20,000, with another $10,000 donated by PricewaterhouseCoopers. In addition, Alexandra Bergman, a student at the Academy of Information Technology and Engineering in Stamford, CT, was recognized as an outstanding student volunteer and received a $5,000 scholarship award.
