When a family of five called in Amanda Zorumski, owner and founder of design firm Amanda Zorumski Design & Décor, to re-do their Bronxville home, she transformed their ideas into a fully formed vision with a clean and modern aesthetic. While the wife liked calm, colors, the husband preferred punches of color. “In their master bedroom, we kept a balance with only a few tones, but added an unexpected velvet ombre/stria and glamorous mirrored bed,” says Zorumski. She paired the mirrored Oly Studio bed with custom Oomph side tables and a settée that belonged to the wife’s grandmother, which she had reupholstered in Creations Metaphores fabric. Above the bed, John Derian plates create a focal point. “I have a love for antiques and details that I like to incorporate for a layered overall look,” says Zorumski.

Their six-year-old and 10-year-old daughters share a room and have different tastes, one being girly and the other a tomboy. “We found a common ground with feminine patterns that had a punchy modern look—and a bit of green in them,” says Zorumski. The beds served as her inspiration for the whole design. “They were important to the girls, and their mother wanted me to play off them and their character,” she said. “I wanted to create a room for them that was fun and young but also whimsical.”

The girls each chose their own Oomph side tables—one in pink, the other in green. Zorumski found a print from Natural Curiosities and linens from Serena & Lily. A printed ottoman from Ballard Designs covered in Duralee fabric matches Euro pillows on the bed; and a bold, graphic rug from Madeline Weinrib anchors the room. Inspired by a single paper lantern the girls liked, Zorumski added to the collection with various sizes and textures and hung them above the beds to add depth to the design. “It just made sense to me with all the other layers,” she said.
