Form and Function Unite

An interior English greenhouse provides a sunny spot for conversation.

George Pusser, president of Cornerstone Contracting, and his award-winning team have been building custom luxury homes throughout Fairfield County, CT, Dutchess and Westchester counties, NY; New York City, the Hamptons and Ocean County, NJ, for more than 25 years. We talked to Pusser about his firm’s dedication to exceeding clients’ expectations with incomparably high standards, supported by a superior on-site management approach.

Tell us about a project for which you found a beautiful way to make a space more functional. We constructed an entertainment barn using materials from a 19th century barn that was discovered in Albany, NY. The original barn was skillfully disassembled and then relocated to Greenwich, CT, where the original timbers were expertly used to construct a magnificent entertainment space. Working with the client, architect, engineer and designer, Cornerstone developed a realistic budget and schedule for transforming the barn. The project included an English greenhouse, custom windows and doors, unique custom cabinetry constructed from antique materials and a wine cellar.

A reclaimed barn was transformed into an entertaining space with adjacent traditional parterre garden.
