ruderman-linda-headshotLinda Ruderman firmly believes that the journey a homeowner and interior designer embark on together should be both enjoyable and educational for the client. Ruderman’s substantial background and extensive knowledge combined with her professional yet approachable demeanor set clients at ease, and ensure success. While moving through the various phases of design, continuity, circulation, practicality and suitability remain resounding factors, regardless of variations among projects. These characteristics of design work together in all of Ruderman’s creations to synthesize her vision of modern day living.

What inspires you?
I get inspired by projects where the clients have put together a design team and trust them to fulfill the vision that they have for their home. This gives the project momentum, which inspires the team to be both creative and productive.

What three pieces should every home have?
Every home should have comfortable seating, a great table for family dinners and a family heirloom to remind them of past generations.

ruderman-hallway-warholWhere do you most like to splurge when decorating a home?
Most clients like to invest in the public rooms of the house. The entry is important because it welcomes you into the home and leads you into the more formal spaces. Family rooms and kitchens take preference as well since this is where the family spends the majority of their time. Clients also love to splurge on home entertainment rooms such as theatres, billiard rooms, golf simulators, home gyms and wine cellars.

What colors do you love now?
I love color of the year Simply White by Benjamin Moore. It is timeless and its versatility is endless. You can create interest by accenting other walls in different colors and also use colorful fabrics to give personality to any room.

What is your favorite accessory?
Artwork! I love helping my clients source artwork for their homes. This is one of the best ways to bring out the personality of the homeowners, and the perfect way to complete each room.

If you could design a home anywhere, where would it be?
A palazzo on the grand canal in Venice would be a dream project! The rich culture, history and traditions of the city are magical. Nothing would inspire me more.
