When the current and original owners of 785 Oenoke Ridge called on architectural firm Gardiner & Larson to design their family home on more than 4.3 acres, the architectural firm left no detail overlooked for the discerning clients. The architects took pains to ensure the four-level home at the end of a private tree-lined driveway flanked by stone pillars has lots of places to gather with friends and family, and only the finest quality materials.

“They looked to bring nature in with oversized custom windows by Le Page Millwork of Canada throughout the house,” says real estate agent John Dunn of Compass in New Canaan, CT. Extra thick custom Dutch doors welcome guests in the front and side entries. A long, covered breezeway with New York bluestone leads to a drive-through garage with a two-room suite with private bath for guests or an au pair.

In the chef’s kitchen, a floor-to-ceiling fieldstone fireplace with Peterson Real Frye gas logs provides a stunning design feature and a cozy spot to sit with a cup of coffee. High ceilings and oversized windows make the kitchen a chef’s dream and the ideal entertaining space to gather.

Upstairs, all the bedrooms are en suite with the primary suite having dual bathrooms and dressing rooms, a sitting room and an exercise room allowing for total privacy.

Ten-foot ceilings on the lower level make the recreation space feel like a main level of the house with kitchenette, another exercise room, and a powder room.

On the main level, French doors from the living room, dining room and kitchen lead to a rear covered Ipe Brazilian hardwood porch for gathering outside and taking in the landscaped grounds with mature trees and rows of limelight hydrangeas. “There’s even a seasonal rock-rimmed pond with fleur de lis fountain on the rear of the property that the kids would ice skate on during the winter months,” says Dunn. In summer, the family would gather around the oversized pool that is 56-feet by 22-feet with adjacent sunken spa and Dalton Pavilion—all accessible just off the oversized family room.

“While the current and only owners raised their three children in the home, one can see 785 Oenoke as the ideal weekend getaway because of its close proximity to New Canaan’s vibrant town center, it’s gorgeous pool and spa and plenty of space for hosting and entertaining friends and family,” adds Dunn.
