On the Market: Westport, CT

A Modern In-Town Penthouse

For Westport Developer David Weldman, Bank House is a labor of love. The award-winning developer of David Adam Realty partnered with Urbane NewHaven and acclaimed architecture firm Roger Ferris + Partners to create Westport’s newest collection of condos on the banks of the Saugatuck River with practically no maintenance and simple one-story living.  Penthouse 4C is the epitome of luxury with European floor-to-ceiling windows, wide board white oak floors, Italian marble countertops in the kitchen and marble heated floors in the bathrooms, a linear gas fireplace in the living area and automatic privacy shades for the windows.

The kitchen has a 15-foot island with seating and lots of counter space and top-of-the-line appliances by Sub-Zero, Wolf and Bosch.

As with many modern luxury buildings today, utilities are eco-friendly. The composite siding is weather resistant with no maintenance requirements. The building is on the ButterflyMX system of smart technology, says real estate agent Kim Harizman of Compass in Westport, CT, which provides secure and remote property access. There are two private parking spaces in the building’s private garage and access to electric car charging. Residents can also make use of the gym, guest quarters and office/meeting space. Each condo in the building has an outdoor terrace. This penthouse has a rooftop terrace with views of the Saugatuck River.

“There aren’t many if any properties like this in Westport,” says Harizman. Developers had to get a special permit to build. “It’s definitely been an exciting project to be part of.”

Interested buyers are ranging from young families to empty nesters to those looking for a second home on the East Coast.

“I love the upper river views,” says Harizman. “You have the water wrapping around on both the East side and North side of the building and views of the sea line. I also really love the modern open floor plan. Many people have used the dining room space for something else, like a bar for entertaining.”

With only four floors of two- and three-bedroom homes, the building has a private and exclusive vibe and the shape of the building means there are no shared walls between this penthouse and any other units in the building.

Plus, the proximity to Westport’s town center makes access to restaurants and shopping of downtown Westport an easy walk away. “The developer grew up in Westport and has done a lot to improve the face of Westport’s downtown,” says Harizman, adding that this private residential property is just one more way he is adding value to the town’s center.
