The Perfect Foodie Destination

picnic table

This under-the-radar Southern town is a foodie destination. A perfect long weekend includes a picnic in Forsyth Park, catered by the Savannah Picnic Company (savannahpicniccompany.com). This is no ordinary picnic in the park: their picnics include savory provisions, plush pillows, comfy chairs and cushions, fresh flowers and drinks.

When it’s time to hit the town, be sure to dine at The Grey, a high-end venue with two always-bustling bars offering modern Southern eats in a refurbished Greyhound bus terminal. The chef, Mashama Bailey, won the 2019 James Beard award for best chef in the Southeast. For another not-to-be-missed experience, book the private oyster shucking lessons followed by dinner (with wine pairings) at Perry Lane Hotel’s signature restaurant, The Emporium Kitchen and Wine Market. The restaurant showcases locally sourced menu items like roast barbecue oysters and farmer’s market primavera, and BBQ Wagyu Brisket. perrylanehotel.com
