Girls’ Night Out for the Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education

Serendipity’s Girls’ Night Out is a socially conscious evening that combines fashion, food and fun, all to support great causes. Held this year on April 21 at The Loading Dock in Stamford, CT, the event gave guests the opportunity to shop, mingle and honor the philanthropists who contribute to the community. An enthusiastic crowd cheered as these charitable models (and kids!) showed off fresh spring looks. The party continued with gourmet cuisine from caterer Abigail Kirsch, refreshing lemon cocktails from Keel Vodka and dance hits performed by the popular band Sweet & Meaty. In between, guests shopped for gorgeous clothing and jewelry, sampled expert beauty services and products and tasted fine wines. These individuals are heroes in the community for their efforts to help vital causes. Meet the men, women and children who made Girls’ Night Out a success.

The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education (Stamford, CT)

Her role: Board member and chair of fundraising

Mission: The Center offers counseling and  support services to victims of sexual assault  throughout lower Fairfield County. In addition, the organization seeks to eliminate sexual  violence through community-wide  education programs.

What drew you to this charity? “Throughout my whole life, I have gravitated toward community service and causes people are afraid to talk about. In the ’90s, I traveled to D.C. to support the NAMES project, which helped bring attention to the AIDS crisis. We can’t solve problems until people are willing to talk about them. I may not have the skills to cure a disease but we all have  the courage to talk about the issues in front of  us. Sexual assault is a preventable event.  Highlighting the things that people need to  discuss, but don’t want to discuss, has always come naturally to me.”
