Chef Jamie Oliver’s “Food Revolution” Inspires Healthy Eating in New Canaan

The “Food Revolution” touted by British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver came to New Canaan on May 14, encouraging children to step outside their culinary comfort zones. Food tastings were spread out at the town’s Pop Up Park, inviting kids to expand their palettes and try some new (and nutritious) things to eat. Courageous eaters were rewarded with a stamp on their “Bravery Passport” for each new dish they sampled, like cereal-covered cauliflower, BBQ beets, truffle olive oil, lobster lollipops, gazpacho and baklava for dessert. There was also music from local band Mind the Gap, children’s singer/songwriter Dre Towey and a performance of Cinderella from the New England Dancers. Chef Plum, of Food Network fame, hosted the event.
