Meet 2020 DM Honoreee Amy Zolin: Amy Zolin has always had an eye for style. Before she made the shift to interior design, she honed her skills in the fashion world as a buyer for Saks Fifth Avenue, where she worked with brands like Chanel and Prada. “Traveling through Europe for several years gave me a great sense of architecture, history and style,” says Zolin, who started in interior design in 2000.
Today, Zolin is the designer and owner of Clarity Home Interiors in Greenwich, CT, a full-service interior design studio with an aesthetic described on their website as “timeless and sophisticated, but without pretense.” Often, that includes some color. “I love color and personality in each space,” she says. “We often blend new with old and always love it when clients have things they love to add to the mix.”

Zolin, who focuses on high-end homes, says that client relationships are of utmost importance. “Building trust and confidence in our process and abilities is vital to all our projects,” says Zolin. “We want to be there every step of the way and to exceed client expectations, so it is important to get to know what the expectations are for each unique client.”

And what inspires her? The world’s natural beauty—and family. “Home is where my family is and when I enter a clients’ home, I think about how they will live with their families and how furniture, art and design can impact these feelings of family and friends,” she says. Family plays a major role in her life and charity work, too. After her mom died from Alzheimer’s disease, Zolin was inspired to volunteer her time with the Alzheimer’s Association, and helps with the annual Greenwich gala.
Next up: The studio will be going international. They’ll be taking on a three-year project in Antigua with Stelle Lomont Rouhani Architects. “It’s a great project where we are honoring the original architecture and local resources, with new contemporary additions of guest suites, a spa- inspired water area, and renovations to all existing living space.”
