Where to Stay
The Menhaden
Located in Greenport, this boutique hotel has a contemporary vibe, with well-appointed rooms and a great roof deck. Aqua Beach Hotel
If you’re looking for easy access to the beach — and an incredible outdoor set-up — then consider this adults-only property in Aquebogue, about 25 minutes from Greenport. (The American Beech hotel is their sister property there.) You’ll find both water- and garden-view room options, all of which have private decks. Beyond that, you can spend time relaxing on one of the beachfront loungers, going kayaking or paddle boarding, or booking an experience, like a wine tour.
North Fork Table & Inn
Stay in one of four rooms at this iconic property in Southold, which were renovated three years ago and feature either king or queen beds. It’s also home to the incredible North Fork Table — helmed by Michelin-starred Chef John Fraser — and featuring a variety of locally sourced contemporary American classics. Don’t miss the special events, including cocktail classes and Thursday night burgers.

Visit the wineries
This is an obvious, of course — and one of the major draws to the area. The North Fork Wine Guide offers a list of all the vineyards in the area as well as wine tour options. Many hotels can also arrange winery tours, like the Menhaden and Aqua Beach, both of which can arrange experiences with Macari Vineyards.
Hit the beach
Whether you want a beach day in the summer or to stroll along the water in the fall (or even winter), there are a variety places to do so, like the unique 67 Steps beach near Greenport or the larger Orient Beach State Park, which has a playground, summer concessions, and kayak and paddle board rentals.
Walk Greenport
Spend an afternoon or evening — or both — strolling through the village of Greenport, with its many restaurants and shops. If you’re visiting with kids, don’t miss a stop at the 100-year-old carousel, which is just $3 a ride.
Long Island Aquarium
If the weather isn’t great or you want to do an indoor activity instead, consider a visit to the Long Island Aquarium, where you can do everything from see the penguins to swimming with mermaids. (!!)
East End Bike Tours
For a different way to explore the area, try a bike ride. You can opt for a guided tour — there’s a Brewery & Vineyard tour, for example — or rent a bike and head out on your own. (They do have recommended routes.) You can also go for a private tour, which includes an e-bike option.
