21st Annual Fall Festival & Hawk Watch

Suzanne Heilmann, Ingrid Pasternak, Olga Gordan

The Greenwich Audubon Center hosted the 21st annual Fall Festival and Hawk Watch. To further its mission of connecting people to nature and engaging them with conservation science to protect birds and the habitat they need, the Greenwich Audubon Center celebrates the annual migration of tens of thousands of hawk, eagles, owls and other birds of prey with a community-wide celebration. This year’s festival featured activities such as live birds of prey shows, a rehabilitated hawk release, live music, climbing wall, pony rides, a child-driven mini safari car, vendors, exhibitors, carnival games and fall activities, as well as food trucks and honey harvesting. The festival also featured “Canon: Birds in Focus,” experiences provided by Canon camera company giving guests the opportunity to try out cutting-edge photography equipment during nature walks and private raptor experiences. The 2019 festival was among the Greenwich Audubon Center’s most successful—with 1,500 people in attendance the event raised more than $29,000.
