BCA’s Day of Family Fun to Fight Breast Cancer

On Sunday, March 4, Breast Cancer Alliance hosted Kids for A Cause Carnival Day at Round Hill Club, for young families. The event, which raised over $23,000, included face painting, balloon animals, magic by Seth Dale, arts and crafts courtesy of Purple Zebras and Lego Love, and a performance by Songs for Seeds. Families packed gift bags for women in treatment with donated items by generous committee members, Dr. Kim Nichols, Fresh Cosmetics and Whole Foods. The highlight was seeing the sassy models, ages 3 to 10, who took to the runway in playful fashions courtesy of lead event sponsor, Hoagland’s of Greenwich.  By The Way Bakery donated sweet treats for the end of the day.

Molly Calhoun, Kathy Morrissy, Sarah Pribyl and Candace Procaccini chaired the wonderful 30 member committee. Calhoun explained why she is involved: “This is an important event for our community because it raises money for critical grants and patient support locally. It engages children in the process of helping others, and we hope that it will help serve as a foundation for lifelong social responsibility.” Kathy, owner of Hoagland’s, added: “Hoagland’s is pleased to be involved because we have been touched by breast cancer within our store organization and in our families. As a store made up primarily of women, we can well appreciate the reality that one in eight women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The work of the BCA is essential in funding the research that may well lead to a cure. As a mother, I am pleased that my daughter will have the opportunity to do something for others and understand the importance of advancing breast cancer research.”
