Hospital for Special Surgery hosted its Annual Autumn Benefit on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Guastavino’s in Manhattan, raising $1.2 million for medical education.
Medical education is a cornerstone of the mission of HSS. These essential funds strengthen the vision of HSS to serve as the world’s most trusted educator. Funds raised will allow HSS to continue to provide award-winning education and training in the fields of orthopedics, rheumatology, physiatry, anesthesiology and radiology. HSS has been ranked No. 1 in orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report for the past 8 years and is also ranked No. 3 in rheumatology.
The event honored three surgeons from HSS this year. Todd J. Albert, MD, surgeon-in-chief at HSS, received the Nancy Bischoff Mentor Award. James C. Farmer, MD, orthopedic spine surgeon at HSS, was honored with the Philip D. Wilson, Jr., MD, Teaching Award. Lastly, Duretti Fufa, MD, hand and upper extremity surgeon at HSS, received the Richard S. Laskin, MD, Young Attending Award.
The event was chaired by Barbara Albert, and co-chaired by Anne Altchek, Ann Roberts and Mary Lee Shapiro. After a festive cocktail hour and gourmet dinner, guests danced the night away.
