The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society held its annual Light the Night Fairfield County walk at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, CT, which raised about $240,000 for blood cancer research and support. The heartwarming family event drew 1,500 supporters, survivors and corporate teams to join in the fun of children’s crafts, face painting, and balloon art, culminating in a one-mile walk around the park. Before the walk began, local cancer survivor Peter Levine gave a rallying speech about the importance of the LLS mission. Chris Pacchiana, director at recruiting firm Aerotek (the walk’s corporate chair), was pronounced the event’s No. 1 fundraising team. The evening ended with a display of a glowing bubble show over the park. The 2020 Fairfield County walk will be held on October 24.
