Guests at a Ladies Luncheon to benefit The Inner-City Foundation of Charity & Educationโserving the areaโs neediest familiesโwere treated to a number of special festivities, including a talk by two of HGTVโs hottest design stars. Jeanine Hays & Bryan Mason, creators of the Brooklyn-based design brand AphroChic and hosts of HGTVโs Sneak Peek with AphroChic were on hand to give a talk at the event, which was held at the Belle Haven Club in Greenwich. Along with the talk, a pop up shop showcased some of AphroChicโs design wares, with 10 percent of proceeds going back to The Inner-City Foundationโand in fact, for the entire month of June, AphroChic will donate 10 percent of all its online sales to the Inner-City Foundation.
The event featured comedienne Bonnie Levison as the Master of Ceremonies and guests enjoyed a lunch of poached salmon salad, with rosรฉ donated by Valโs of Greenwich. Table centerpieces were made of fresh produce, donated in part by Palmerโs of Darien and then given to The New Covenant Center food pantry and soup kitchen in Stamford.
Another special feature: Timโmya Minnifield, a 10th grader at Stamford Academy, and Zakia Abbe, a refugee from Sudan, both spoke about how programs supported by The Inner-City Foundation were changing their lives. As Levison pointed out, The Inner-City Foundation has given more than $30 million to hundreds of local programs. The event was chaired by Audrey Dornier, Helen FitzPatrick, Janie Gestal, Missy OโShaughnessy, Pam Pagnani and Geri Roper.
