ONSF’s Race To Stop the Opioid Epidemic

ONSF (ONS Foundation for Clinical Research and Education) held its 5th Annual Run/Walk Health Expo on Sunday, September 17th at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center in Old Greenwich, CT. Founded in 2008, ONSF, in alliance with Greenwich Hospital, strives to improve standards of excellence for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders through clinical research, physician and patient education, and community outreach programs. Event Co-Chairs Joseph “Casey” McKee, Adam Ercoli and Katie Vadasdi, M.D., along with Foundation Director, Susan Plant, arranged the outstanding community event.

Over 300 runners/walkers gathered to race along the beautiful streets of Old Greenwich on a course that challenged elite runners and was enjoyed by walkers, stroller joggers, and children of all ages. As always, the Kids’ Fun Run was a huge success. All ONSF 5K race participants received Race T-Shirts and medals. Food and beverages were generously donated by Aux Délices and DJ Anthony Redice enhanced the spirit of the day.

Proceeds from the 5th Annual ONSF 5K directly benefitted the organization’s current research project, Unraveling the Opioid Epidemic in Post-Surgical Patients. In support of this project, the Greenwich Police Department donated and supervised a DROP-OFF Box at the Race for the collection of unused/expired medications.

Dr. Paul Sethi, ONSF President, told the crowd, “We are so proud to share our efforts to Unravel the Opioid Epidemic in Post- Surgical Patients with our friends and supporters who raced with us today.”
