OPUS for Person-to-Person, a charitable organization comprised of more than 200 women in Darien, raised more than $80,000 at its annual fall fundraiser, The BigGER Rig Gig, which was held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Ox Ridge Field in Darien. Proceeds from the fifth annual event will go directly to support Person-to-Person’s efforts in serving more than 24,000 individuals in need from neighboring communities.

The festive and casual outdoor event took place under an open-air tent and featured live bluegrass music from The Wool Hats and DJ Matthew Mixwell.  Guests dined on Southern-themed fare from food trucks including Mardi Parti, Melt Mobile, Taco Loco and Yardbird and Co and House of Bones BBQ. The event also featured a paddle raise to generate additional funds to further support Person-to-Person’s emergency assistance program, consisting of emergency food pantries, clothing center, layettes for newborns, and emergency financial assistance for security deposits, rents, utilities and more.

“We are beyond thrilled to once again have had a sold-out crowd for our fall fundraiser,” said Lindsey Carr, co-president, Opus for Person-to-Person.  “We are delighted that this year’s BigGER Rig Gig exceeded our expectations once again, as a result of the hard work of our dedicated committee, and generous support from our sponsors and the community.”
