Chef Debra Ponzek’s Blue Butterfly Margarita Recipe

Ingredients

For the Butterfly Simple Syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon blue butterfly powder

For the Margarita:

  • 3 ounces tequila blanco
  • .75 ounces triple sec
  • 1 ounce lime juice

Directions

For the butterfly simple syrup:

  1. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a simmer.
  2. Stir until sugar is dissolved and simmer for one minute.
  3. Allow to cool.
  4. Once cooled, combine the simple syrup with the butterfly powder until smooth.

For the Margarita:

  1. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the tequila, triple sec and lime juice and simple syrup. 
  2. Shake until combined and chilled. 
  3. Garnish with a lime if desired.
