Meghan Kelly and Jason Gefaell’s Black Tie Wedding to Remember

Westerly, Rhode Island

The end result was a gorgeous black tie wedding for 220 guests — but the planning of their December 8, 2012, wedding started as a hard-hat tour of the newly renovated Weekapaug Inn, where the groom’s family has been visiting for generations. “We knew we wanted to be the first wedding there,” says the bride, a senior vice president at The Corcoran Group Real Estate. Meghan grew up in London and Greenwich, CT, and Jason, a managing director at Raymond James, was raised in Virginia. The couple now live in Manhattan.

Jason and Meghan, at the Weekapaug Inn, in Westerly, RI, started dating in 2011 and were engaged a year later. “We wanted to have an elegant black tie winter wedding, but with more of a cocktail party atmosphere,” says Meghan. “We had candles everywhere and rented the whole inn, so it felt like an intimate affair.”

“We wanted to incorporate our personalities and add a nautical touch,” says Meghan, with Jason and their wedding party of 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen. The bridesmaids “wore long, navy silk chiffon gowns by J. Crew in three different styles the girls chose [from].” The bride’s white bouquet was made with hydrangeas, white posy calla lilies, roses, lisianthus and snowberries wrapped in white ribbon. The bridesmaids carried smaller versions wrapped in navy.
