Classes are just part of what makes smaller fitness studios stand out—the design is the other part. Case in point: The recently opened Greenwich Barre Studio, which founder Cindy Sites describes as having a serene and spa-like feel. “Something about the natural light, calming neutrals of cream, gold and platinum just makes you exhale and feel at peace,” she says. The 1,000-square foot studio on Greenwich Avenue was designed by Cindy Rinfret and the team at Rinfret, LTD. “The design touches on all senses—the rug in the studio is soft and luxurious and beautiful cushioned seating in the reception area makes you feel comforted and cared for.” Sites, a veteran barre instructor, says she knew from the start she wanted a “boutique” feel for the studio. “This is not a big franchise and I want to know every client and feel that we have a special community. It was important to me that the interior design of the studio reflect this sense of a sanctuary.” greenwichbarrestudio.com
