Mia Hargadon and Grant Tankoos
OCTOBER 5, 2019
Newport, RI, has always had special meaning to Mia and Grant. It’s where they met, where they had their first date and where they got married. In 2014, Mia’s mother met Grant at the boat show, discovered they had a Darien, CT, connection and introduced them. Grant was there selling his bespoke cutting boards. In 2018, he proposed at the same boat show, on a rooftop they had frequented since they met. They ate pizza out of the takeout box, drank rosé out of plastic roadie cups and watched the boats twinkling in the harbor. Grant proposed just as it started to rain. She said yes and he surprised her with a celebratory dinner at Clarke Cooke house with 30 guests. So for their October wedding a year later, it seemed only fitting they return to Newport to tie the knot. “It’s a special place for us,” says Mia. Special touches personalized the day, from hors d’oeuvres served on Grant’s cutting boards to stationery designed by Mia’s mom
