At the Friday night gala for the 5th Annual Greenwich Wine + Food Festival, Serendipity’s 2015 Most Innovative Chefs were introduced by celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito while they cooked their specialty dishes for an enthusiastic foodie crowd. John Stage of Dinosaur BBQ was also an honored guest. This exclusive group of chefs included: David White of Vespa in Westport, CT; David DiBari of The Cookery in Tarrytown, NY; Alison Awerbuch of Abigail Kirsch at The Loading Dock in Stamford, CT; Beck Bolender of One Twenty One in North Salem, NY; Francesco Casu of Golden View Firenze in Greenwich, CT; Renato Donzelli of Basso Café in Norwalk, CT; Nick DiBona of Madison Kitchen in Larchmont, NY; Erik Erlichson of Bistro Versailles in Greenwich, CT; Stephen Lewandowski of Harlan Social in Stamford, CT; Pat Pascarella of Bar Sugo, in Norwalk, CT; Matt Storch of The Chelsea in Fairfield, CT and Match in Norwalk, CT; David Raymer of Strada 18 in Norwalk and Boulevard 18 in New Canaan, CT, Luke Venner of Elm in New Canaan, CT and Jes Bengtson of Granola Bar in Westport, CT. Attendees chatted with fellow guests about the dishes, with highlights including the maple smoked pig heads with sausage and cider doughnuts from The Cookery and the lobster risotto from Vespa. Money and awareness for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was raised with a live auction conducted by Gary Dell’Abate, aka Howard Stern show star “Baba Booey,” a Greenwich resident. The evening was a perfect night for lovers of great food and wine as well as music—local singer Karen Zimmer opened for the legendary reggae band The Wailers, who finished the night with a roaring performance that went late into the night.
